Animal welfare groups were denied access to the court systems today to protest the jeopardizing of public charitable funds.

A heavy decision now rests on Attorney General, Steve Carter, to uphold his objection to the Indianapolis Humane Society’s pledging of charitable trust assets filed by the AG on July 1st, 2004.

 Quoting the AG’s objection:

“The Attorney General believes that the proposed loan and 3 year plan are not in the best interest of the public or the trust, do not follow the intent of the settlor and may result in an unnecessary diminishing of the assets of the trust.”

Will Steve Carter abide by his own words?

Case to be heard Tuesday afternoon in the Marion County Probate Court.
